Student Enrollment

To enroll in BEST for the 2026-2027 school year, follow the steps below.

Step #1. Enroll online through the FNSBSD Registration Portal.

Transferring from another school in the FNSB School District? Parents/Guardians must submit a registration to the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District to switch to BEST Homeschool.

*Attention: Students must be enrolled on or before October 1st to receive an allotment for the 2026-2027 school year.

Step #2.  Create a new account in Brightways. This is where parents and BEST staff manage Individual Learning Plans and progress reports.

Step #3.  Schedule a meeting with an Education Specialist listed below. You can click their names to easily and quickly schedule a meeting in Calendly or call them directly to set that up.

Step #4.  Review curriculum options to develop an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for your student(s).

  • Please review some curriculum options before your scheduled meeting with the Education Specialist. This list is only a sample of the possibilities!
     
  • If you haven't already, your Education Specialist will have you create an account in BrightWays for your ILP and progress reports.

Step #5.  Finalize and sign your student's Individual Learning Plan (ILP) with your Education Specialist. 

  • Your education specialist will assist you in finalizing your curriculum selection and creating the ILP for your student(s) during your meeting.
     
  • They will also discuss with you how to get reimbursed for your curriculum materials using your allotment funds.
